Early Life: Family and Education
Shruti Haasan is the oldest daughter of actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur. Her father is a renowned actor turned politician down south. She has a younger sister, Akshara Haasan, who is also an actress. Her cousins are actresses Anu Hasan and Suhasini Maniratnam. Actor and lawyer Charuhasan is her paternal uncle.
Shruti has a mixed ancestry as her father Kamal is an Iyer from Tamil Nadu whereas her mother Sarika was born to a Maharashtrian father and a Rajput mother.
Haasan attended the Lady Andal Venkatasubba Rao school in Chennai. She majored in psychology at St. Andrew’s College in Mumbai. As an ambitious actress, she later moved to the US to study music at the Musicians Institute in California.

Singing Debut
Being recognized as the daughter of versatile actor, Kamal Haasan, she first made her stint in the entertainment industry as a singer. At the age of just six, she sang the “Potri Paadadi Ponne” song in the Tamil movie, Thevar Magan which had Ilaiyaraaja’s music.
