While growing up, she was raised vegetarian and at the age of 14, she turned vegan.

Madelaine was actually called in for auditions to play the role of  Betty Cooper in Riverdale, but after 4 months of auditions, she was asked to do the role of Cheryl.

Petsch aspired to become an actress and dancer since she was very young and took dancing and acting classes from three.

At the age of 8, she moved to South Africa and after ten years, she again relocated to Los Angeles.

During her initial days in Los Angeles, she lived on her own working in a number of jobs such as a waitress, barista, hostess, personal assistant to a photographer, hookah lounge and at a political consulting firm.
