In 2014, Abby competed in the Miss Arizona USA pageant and finished third runner-up.

While studying journalism at the University of Southern California, she got her start as an anchor/producer at Trojan Vision Television, a student-operated TV station.

Abby Hornacek suffered an injury in her right eye while playing volleyball in college.
